Welcome from Upstate NY.
I get a 48" uncut hickory ramrod with a threaded tip on one end from Track of the Wolf and use that as a home rod to pull a load with a ball puller or clean after a day of shooting. At the range I use the rod in the thimbles . . . as my range I walk to and it is on my back hill.
