Hi,
It is a good lock. It has many applications for mid to late 18th century guns. For long rifles, go look at Jim Kibler's website and click on his custom gun work. He uses the lock frequently. It is also a good lock for NE fowlers and of course, English guns. If you use it for an English gun, do not inlet it flush with the wood. Instead, either give the surface a slight dome (not as rounded as a round-faced lock) or file a bevel and inlet to the depth of the bottom of the bevel.
