Was coming back home from an unsuccessful hun hunt. When I saw this herd of elk. There were only a couple of spikehorns the rest were cows and calves. But this made for an enjoyable day anyway. Enjoy!

22 years ago a military base in southern Alberta introduced elk as a large grazer to replace the feral horses they'd removed. As best I recall, over a year, they moved in about 300 head which took off like wildfire. 10 years later there were herds of (by my estimate) close to a thousand which were a sight to see.

Some very fine bulls. The first year they allowed hunting was cows only. Quite the bummer to drive to drive around that first day and see only bulls.

Taken a few weeks ago in Estes Park, CO. The elk pretty much own the town and come down every year.

LOL looks like Grand Canyon National Park! You see sooo many elk and deer in the park. Was on a job this last Oct and saw a nice herd with a 7x8 bedded in the school playground!
