    really stuck nipple

I recently purchased a nice underhammer rifle. The nipple is so stuck I think it has never been removed. I have bent all the nipple wrenches I own and cannot get it to turn loose. Who makes the best nipple wrench? I don't want to use heat because the wood forearm is so close to the nipple. There...

    Pedersoil ignition problem fix

Hello, I have the same rifle. It's my first flinter and was given to me by my youngest son for father's day. My biggest problem is keeping the flint tight in the jaws and keeping an edge on the flint. Other than that, I like the rifle. I've never had a problem with the patent breech because I...

    nipple wrenches

I'm sure this subject has been beaten to death but I must ask about removing a stuck nipple from an underhammer with the brass shield around it. That bugger is a tight as a frog's you know what and between dodging the hammer and getting something to fit inside that shield, I'm really scratching...

Thanks Zonie. I knew you would know the right way to go.

    cva bobcat load

I just bought a bobcat so I can teach my grandson the pleasure of muzzleloaders. Anyhow, I looked up the owners manual and it states that the minimum load is 50 grains of powder and I think this might be a bit stout for a 10 year old. Having no experience with this rifle, I am wondering if...

    Patch Thickness

For all the years I have been shooting muzzleloaders, I have used store bought patches. My Hawken rifle liked the .015 patches and just a tap or two on the short starter then ram her home. While at Walmart, I decided to try making my own patches and have read here that most of their pillow...

    Investarms breach plug

Well, i finally got the dadblasted ball out of the barrel. I had punched a hole through it with the ball puller and the hole was too loose, so I used an old cleaning jag and pounded the ball flat which closed the hole and gave the ball puller something to grab onto again and with a pop, out she...

Thanks for the advice. I'll let you know how it turns out. :hatsoff:

    Investarms breach plug

I have a ball stuck in the barrel of my rifle and have tried everything to get it out. CO2, different diameter ball pullers and I am still stuck. I think I may need to pull the breach plug out but have never done this before. Is there anyone who can guide me through this? This is a plug with a...

    gun prices

Some people say that muzzleloading is not very popular and nobody is taking up the sport. I don't think that is true. This weekend, in Phoenix, we had a gun show and judging by the asking prices for rifles and revolvers, I'd say that the market is rather brisk. Used to be, you could buy up these...

    Percussion underhammer

Thanks to all who replied. I have been turning the rifle upside down to get the caps on and have not had a problem with them falling off, just getting the darn small caps close enough to the end of my finger tips to put them on. I think I will try picking up needles for practice. :winking:

    Percussion underhammer

Just wondering what anyone uses to place caps on the nipple of an underhammer rifle. I just bought one at a gun show and my Cash cappers are unable to access the nipple so I was stuck putting them on by hand. This would be ok if I didn't have fingers the size of bratwurst, but I do. Can anyone...

    Blank Loads for C&B Revolvers?

I have participated in a few cowboy type shows for kids and I use my black powder revolvers with a slightly larger charge than normal and just a wonder wad pressed in to hold the charge. We shoot at each others feet and never any closer than 15 to 20 feet. This has always worked well for me.
