    Mick, The mountain rifle kit being produced could be made without a cut-out for a buttplate. Perhaps this would help? There is an original Whitson gun with this set-up. I will probably be adding some additional kit designs in the future, but it will be a while. Thanks again everybody, Jim

    You might consider a higher colorant or pigment load in the finish. Seems it may help.

    There's a high probability they won't interchange. Best to start with another stock.

    Needle files certainly do vary in quality. The Grobet are best in my experience. I've used some Nicholson ones, and they've been a bit of a disappointment.

    stain for walnut

    Staining with well spent ferric nitrate (aquafortis)can give walnut a very nice appearance. Too strong of an acidic solution and it can become too dark. Unstained walnut finished with modern materials often looks weak and pale to my eye. Jim
