    inletting pistol butt caps

What is the procedure for inletting butt caps with extensions running up the sides of the butt as in continental guns? Fit to the butt first and then do the extensions or try and do it all at once. I know there was an article on this topic some where but I have lost it.

    Patch or Wad

What is the general consensus for a 20 ga with a ball? A patched ball and or a bare ball and wad? Bore is .602. I could use .585 balls and a patch, or maybe a .600 ball and a card wad over the powder. What say you?

    Flintlock Vincent

I am gathering the parts to build a Vincent style half stock. I know its not HC but Whisker illustrates a flint half stock which is not unlike the Vincent rifles. My rifle will be light and thin, I'm using a 13/16 barrel. My question is what lock should I use? It needs to be small enough to...

    inletting mainspring problem

I am inletting my lock and am to the point of doing the mainspring, But given the width of the spring if I cut deeply enough to accomodate it the mortice will cut into the barrel channel. I could thin the spring but wouldn't that weaken it? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

fI have just come across the news of Paul's death on the forum. I hunted with him, counted on him as a resource and profited by his posts. He was a fixture here. I'm trying to find his obituary, The ranks grow thinner
