Ive had no trouble with bull elk with prb, shot placement is key. Will use a conical when I finally draw my once in a lifetime buffalo tag though! Pop shot his with .58 great plains bullet and it was devastaing! 80 grains and we recovered it on opposite shoulder, blew through all bone and protruding on skin. Good luck!
 
Gentlemen, here's a tidbit about TC stocks cracking. The problem is one of the bottom of the breech end camming against stock when the barrel is lowered into position and the created leverage exerting upward pressure into the face of the tang right where the design of the stock makes the strength of the grain the very weakest. Bedding the tang into its slot to fit the barrel and fitting the barrel hook to the tang can be important.
