Storing Naked barrels for future builds?

How do you store barrels for future builds, Not Browned, just shiny steel? What do you put on them to keep them from Rusting?

I don’t care about surface rust on tge outside. I’m going to draw file anyway. In the bore I use automotive bearing or axle grease. I know you can use more expensive stuff but I’ve got a quart from back in the day that just keeps going.

In my part of the world a lite coat of oil and keep it dry in a even temperature enviroment works fine. Grease on the inside sounds good.

I've had barrels sit for several years and I just treat them like my finished guns...2x per year I swab the barrel with a patch sprayed with Barricade. Never had an issue.

As Rich P says above, they will be draw-filed and finished anyway so outside rust doesn't matter.
Mine are in the rafters with oiled bores.

I use Spray on anti rust spray on my barrels and store them in the closet in my finishing room. ( I do custom woodworking so my finishing room is always heated )
