Help! I have a 54 cal Lyman GPR. I was an idiot and started a ball without loading a charge. I don't have a ball puller YET. I was thinking about just unscrewing the breechplug and shoving the ball through. Could this create problems? Other suggestions? Anyone tried removing the vent liner and using compressed air from a compresser to blow it out?

Compressed air will work, and a whole lot easier then pull'n yore breechplug!!

You didn't state if it is a flintlock or percussion, but really makes no dif.

Compressed air is the first thought with the muzzle pointed to the ground.

Second thought is to shoot it out. Remove vent or nipple & take a vent pick or gem clip & start packing the powder to it. Get in ? 10 grains or so & push the ball down to the breech & shoot the ball out. Have shot out WAY more than I care to.... It don't take much powder to get it out...

PS: In over 30 years of ML'ing I have never pulled a breechplug for a dryball or stuck ball. Most I have been able to shoot them out & on ones brought to me still loaded I have always been able to pull them.

Good Luck !!
