Hello,

I am just starting on this crazy journey with flintlocks. I bought the Traditions Frontier kit to build with my 13 year old son. I've done woodworking, and I've built AR's so this shouldn't be too hard, right? I'm sure those are famous last words. Anyway, I'm buying a replacement lock for the rifle from the start due to all the comments and reviews about how bad the factory lock is. I'll keep it for parts. It should be a good opportunity for my son and I to do something enjoyable together and then go and shoot it; which is arguably the most enjoyable part of guns.

Thanks for being welcoming to those of us just starting out. I look forward to building a beautiful rifle that will last for a very long time.

Congratulations on the new hobby. I am a newbie to muzzle loaders as well and build bolt rifles. So happy for you building the flintlock while at the same time building relations with your son,
Welcome from South Texas.
