I've looked at this site a few times, but just joined this morning. I've been shooting since I was a little kid (Ike was president), but just started with the black powder last year. I am interested mainly in hunting and being able to consistently hit a deer at 100 yards. I'm shooting a Traditions Deerhunter. My gun range, Delaware County Field and Stream, has 50 and 75yd ranges for muzzleloaders. My near term goals are to find a proper charge/load and to be able to put that first shot where I want it, then to kill a bear. Any help/advice is welcome.

I run 70 grains of 2F black powder with a .018" patch and .490" round ball in my DeerHunter cap gun. I've taken deer at 80 yds, and it groups around 1 1/2" to 2" at 50 yards with my old eyes. Welcome to the addiction my friend.
