Pick up a no name 40 caliber percussion and was wondering if anyone knew anything about WTB as the builder of this rifle.
Nicely done with a 36 inch Green mountain barrel and what appears to be a siler lock.
Don't have a lot of knowledge on custom build guns.
Hoping someone knows the builder.
Thanks in advance
Jim

I have to agree with Eric. Sadly, this is one of those guns that are only worth the value of their salvageable parts. o_O:oops::(

My rifle has an incredible birdseye maple stock but is crudely built, it is probably the most accurate rifle that I own. It has put a bunch of deer in the freezer for me.

Shoot your rifle and enjoy it, with that GM barrel it is probably a tack driver.

While true, IF the rifle shoots well the value to you will be much much higher. The satisfaction of a good target, or (imho) even better venison or small game on the table from a good shooting rifle far surpasses the value of the parts.

You guys are all correct, but I think the point I wanted to make is that it's probably best not to spend more money on an ugly rifle than you could get for the parts. Life is short. There are plenty of rifles out there that are beautiful as well as accurate. So, yes, hunt with it, shoot it, learn from it, then dump it and use the money to get a rifle that shoots well that you can also be proud of, if only for your own self respect.

Ugly is in the eye of the beholder. I think with a little TLC it can be made to look much better and it would be good experience to try.
Edit add link... This is my ugly rifle and after a little TLC & cleaning it up I decided it is beautiful and better than a lot of my other guns. Pictures are at the end as tinypics struck and removed the originals.
