Hi all. Hope everyone is well. I had a question on gunpowder. Someone recommended 3f go ex. I was wondering can I use the triple 7 FFG? Is that the correct powder size? Thanks for your help.

@Kp, tell us about your rifle. Is it percussion or flint lock? If your rifle is percussion, then you can use the volume equivalent measure of Triple 7 3Fg. It is a substitute y volume for real black powder such as GOEX. If it is a flint lock rifle, the higher ignition requirements for Triple 7 powder may or most likely may not work.

As said above won’t work in a flint lock
It’s important to measure volume, the volume of black powder since I understand Triple seven is a little less dense then black

I really appreciate your time to answer. I have a Maynard 2 nd generation 50 cal carbine witch takes the percussion caps. I got lots of help previously from another thread. I just got stumped once again learning there are different size grains of triple 7. Thanks to your answer I’m going with the FFG. Now I know what powder. I have the brass shells and the lead on order. So close to getting this together to shoot. Can’t wait. Thanks again
