Jag and patches stuck in barrel

I have removed a few with compressed air and a rubber tipped blow gun with my air compressor. If you are in NE PA let me know and maybe we can hook up and get that ball out for you. If you have a garage man that does engine work , he will have a blowgun and just aim it into a box of rags or any...

Shot my Lyman Deerstalker for the first time today

The powder goes in the touch hole behind the jag, do not dump it down the barrel. You should take it to Dixons and have them remove it if you are not sure how to do it.

Shot my Lyman Deerstalker for the first time today

If you have an air compressor and a rubber tipped blowgun, point it in a safe direction and give it a shot thru the touch hole. Then pin the end on your ram rod. Traditions come pinned and they stay on there. If you tune the lock she will fire damn near instantaneous.

    yield per pound of lead

Gather all you can, every bit as the tree huggers are always going for legislation to out right ban it. It doesn't spoil so you need to be like me, a lead magnet. Heck if I don't use it in my life time the grand sons will.

Loading from a bag for Grins!

I like your idea Bullrun, I have a bag and horn for my .50 and will have the same for my .45. I have a range box for our range shoots when it is to wet or not ideal conditions for our w/walk. I too am preparing for retirement as flinters are the most economical to shoot. I have a stock pile of...

    traditions flintlocks worth buying?

I have a Shenandoah that a friend of mine tweaked the lock and made a new frizzen spring for and she turned into a reliable lock. I know she has at least over a 1000 shots on her and the frizzen is still making good spark ( hope this statement doesn't jinx her). She benches quite accurately and...

How soft is phone cable sheathing?

I use phone cable sheathing alot. It is plenty soft for round balls. I use the joints for my cartridge loads. I imagine different suppliers use slightly different compounds as sheathing part was'nt the most critical part on the line. As long as it sealed and held the pressured nitrogen in. These...

    Range Report

Do you have a swabbing routine, we do alot of shooting at our shoots and I have one gun that like a swab at three rounds and another that likes a swab at 4 shots . With my current patch lube of beeswax and olive oil that is a little less with spit.

How many of us cast lead

Fingers I would hit the 2nd hand stores and acquire a 8qt dutch oven and melt it down on a camp stove or hot plate, turkey fryer outside and pour it into more managable ingots. Once you start casting some nice bullets and balls you will buy this stuff anyhow. Some folks pour into old small...

Hi Emery Thank for the comments, I just took 1ft squares of 1/8 plate and welded them together with a 2" lip below a 10" door.I put a 4" pipe on the right side down to within 2" from the bottom to act as the air intake and welded a 4" stack on the left side. The fuel is used motor oil from the 5...
