    different sight for lyman deerstalker

I filed mine down to about 1/2 the original size and it worked great.

    Traditions Deerhunter pic request

My wife has the Deerhunter and I had a Deerstalker. The Deerstalker is by far the better rifle, but my wife still likes her little Deer Hunter.

Used one in .50 for many years and wish I still had it.

.54 Caliber Round Ball Whitetail Load

My load for a .54 Lyman Trade rifle is 80g of 3f Graff or 90g of 2f Goex, behind a .535 ball.

Anyone Shooting a Investarm 45 Hawken

My very first muzzleloader was one like that. It shot a couple of whitetails before I moved on to a .50. The rifle was accurate enough with a round ball or maxi bullet using 60g of 3f powder.

    Lyman 57 GPR!

Good for you. I put the Lyman 57sml on my Trade rifle for this season, and find it helps a lot. I am now again able to make a 2" group at 80 yards. My confidence is back for this years deer season. Good luck on the hunt.

What Powder to use in a stainless steel Barrel?

Why not try a patched ball and Hopp's #9+ or moose juice for patch lube. I have just sighted in my .54 using 80g of 3f, a .535 ball, 18th pillow ticking patch and Hopp's for lube. I can easily load a second or third shot if I have to, but for accuracy, I wipe the bore between each shot. I have...

    Lyman Trade Rifle?

I have a .54 Trade rifle and it gives me a bit of a whack on the cheek too. It shoots very good so I will put up with it, besides it only bothers me from a bench rest. I used to have a Deerstalker in .50 and it was a pleasure to shoot, fit more like a shot gun. Sorry I sold it.

    Drilling out a nipple

Use real black powder or get a "Magnum Spitfire" or a "Hotshot" nipple.

    Hunting load

My wife uses 70g of 2f Goex in her Traditions Deerhunter, and as said before that is about the same as 60g of T7. She has taken many whitetails as far out as 80 yards with no problem.

    Sight Question

I hear you about aold eyes. Last year I was having a bad time trying to hit anything, so I got the Lyman peep sight and use the white bead up front. It works great for me, so I say try it as a peep.

Liquid Wonder Lube - Initial Testing

I used to use it and liked it. I have since switched to Hopps 9+ and like it better. I find clean up is quicker at the end of the day. I think trying new lubes, patches, powders or whatever is a good thing. It gets us shooting more.

anyone in canada sell small bore (.32 or .36) rifles?

I used to see the odd one at gun shows, but haven't for several years now. Why not get a .45 and use light loads.
