    leaving powder in

An unloaded gun is absolutely useless and a really poor club! All my guns are loaded and are treated as such even if they are not. :shocked2: :)

Flint size and advice for Lyman Deerstalker

Not sure, your gun may need 3/4" flints, I use black english flint, I have tried others but I always comeback. I now knap my own but they are not real pretty, I don't care as long as she goes bang every time. A dozen flints is a whole bunch of shootin' you can sharpen them when they dull and...

    Feedback on CVA Kentucky

Not much differance between that and My old CVA, you have a sideplate and a smaller bore and that is about the only differance. You must be holding that encore for a friend RIGHT?!?! :rotf:

    Finally took out my Renegade

Should be real fast, not like you describe. My flinter had to have the touch hole opened up and backbored, that moves the powder closer to the flash, she is quick enough that I can split business cards. It has to be clean and clear to the powder charge. And as short as possible. I can't...

    54 gpr smoothbore barrel?

If I get a real cruddy one I wrap steel wool around the bore brush and scrub away, Never ceases to amaze me how much junk I can get out of a real dirty one.

    leaving powder in

    >>>Just keep in mind that gun powder is hydroscopic, that is, it attracts water. If you live in a high humidity environment then you won't want to leave it that way

I have had guns loaded with REAL blackpowder for years and they go off, s as long as your powder is dry it shouldn't be a problem.

    Touch Hole Liner Dangerous?

Flashliners are fine, IT's Lawyers that are dangerous, I think they should all be banished to an island, to litigate out the rest of their days!!

    T/C Hawken sight replacement

Find out how large the dovetail is and order something from TOW or Dixie that has a slightly larger base and file it to fit the slot. Don't file the slot.

    Feedback on CVA Kentucky

I bought a 50cal CVA Kentucky kit in 1992 and have won many a match with it, the bore is a little rough now, many 100's of shots. I worked with a gunsmith and we case hardened the internal lock parts and gave it a trigger job, I took out the brass piece from the middle of the stock and replaced...

    EuroArms 44cal Longrifle

No patent breech, it's got a drum and nipple in front of the breechplug, Dropped a bore light down it and found the barrel to be in good shape. I can likely buy the gun cheap enough, I may just buy it for an extra anyway.

    Pre-made cannon barrels?

As Griz approaches the T we notice something new, What's that.... Why it looks like a...a....a...Cannon!!!. The fist hole is a par 5 but he may only need one shot to get in on the green, the dogleg will be tricky, but if he can bank it off the tree he might just have a chance!! He is loading...

Buying BP, What is your order ratio?

7000 grains of powder in a pound. 70 grains 3f main charge means 100 shots per pound. 4f priming is 3 grains= 2333 shots per pound. 23 pounds of 3f would yield 2300 shots. So in this case 23 pounds 3f and 1 pound 4f

    EuroArms 44cal Longrifle

I was wondering if maybe an L&R Lock for a cva might work on it?

    EuroArms 44cal Longrifle

Funny :rotf: I have several caplocks, And I have a flinter, I realy like the flintlock better. I don't want the gun to collect dust like my caplocks do.
