Before buying get a flint, install and fire away (unloaded. I have heard (and saw one once) that the older CVA flintlocks sucked. The one my old boss had would NOT EVER set off a pan of powder.

You get one that throws sparks 25 times in a row its good to go. IMHO
 
Someone who has a CVA might be interested in them for parts, other than that there would not be much use for them. They are one of the poorer production locks.
 
I have a CVA Hawkin, throws sparks like crazy.
Also have a Mountain Rifle, weak sparks, but still fires every time. Have a new frizzen for the Mountain, but no idea how to install it.
