Thought you guys would like to see 46" Rice barrel, .50 cal "B" weight made up. Don't shoot too bad, either.

Here are some photos:

Nice looking rifle.
I sure hope you didn't fall off that chair you were standing on in you stocking feet.
Looks like a head injury waiting to happen to me. :nono:

That was my son. Rifle is so long he couldn't get it all in unless standing on a chair.

very very nice Len, i like the off-side brass plate also, rifles to me almost seem of -balance or half naked without one,,,course none of mine have one..LOL...

Beautiful Len,,,

Beautiful rifle you have there. Good shootin' too I must say. She looks like a keeper to me.

I guess I should add. I got the barrel from Rice down at Friendship. Those boys are a hoot to talk to. Walked down a few stalls and nearly tripped over the stock blank at Pecatonica. also the target shown has six shots in that group. It was pretty windy that day. thanks for your kind comments.

On the advice of a friend, who is an accomplished builder. I first stained it a yellow orange. Scared me to death,it looked like safety orange. then used laurel mtn. American walnut stain. I first thinned the stain by about 1 part thinner to 4 parts stain. My friend told me by doing this orange stain first it wold make the figure stand out. It does work. You kind of have to believe. It's a little scary. It is then finished with Linspeed oil a little on your finger then rubbed in. Then 4/oooo steel wool. About five coats. then Briwax.

Wow you found a really nice rifle inside of that hunk of wood! :v
Fantastic piece-beautiful wood.
Dusty
