Advertised as a 10 gauge, this is actually an 11 gauge English fowler (.751 bore). Probably dates 1840s - 1850s. English proofs. No other markings. The 30.5" Damascus barrels have a grey brown patina, but no serious corrosion. There is engraving on breech, as well as trigger guard and buttplate tang. The bore is bright, with some pitting (?). I am starting to believe this is the original look of such bores and what look like pits is actually a result of manufacturing process. Lock is engraved. Hammer cup shows erosion of edges. The wood is very good plus, with sharp checkering and no cracks. A modern stainless nipple, as well as some oily BP residue, tells me this gun has seen recent use. Removable horn tip on ramrod to attach cleaning brushes, etc. A very fine piece at a fair price. $425 + Shipping.

The photos appear to show a good bit of left hand cast. Is that correct?
