Unfired (although I did once pop a cap on it with no powder or ball inside)

Comes with original box and papers, and a boxof 100 Hornady balls for it.

$175 for everything including shipping (within CONUS) . I prefer money orders but will accept personal checks as well.

These retail for $180 plus tax and shipping and don't include any balls. (And all sites appear to be sold out now too!)

I remember when Sportsman's Guide had these on the front page of their "fun to read" catalog (before the internet consumed earth). They were $39.00. Wished I had bought a few.

I have a feeling that we are going to be looking back at these muzzleloading forums one day and wishing for the good ole days. I've noticed that several retailers have stopped shipping muzzleloaders altogether and most others are out of stock on nearly everything. I hope that it's not a coming trend. We had better buy them while we can.

Good luck with the sale Markitzero. That's a nice example at a good price.

Ramming a ball down thru the barrel is NOT recommended.

The outside of the ball or bullet MUST be larger than the chambers in the cylinder in order to seal the mouth of the chamber after the ball or bullet is loaded.
If there are any gaps in that area, a chain fire will happen with multiple chambers firing at once.

The bore in the barrel is smaller than the chamber diameters and often, the grooves diameter is smaller too. Forcing the ball thru the barrel will therefore make the outside of the ball, smaller than the chamber diameter. As I said, this can lead to chain firing of the gun when the first round is shot.

The right size ball or bullet to use in a .31 caliber revolver is .320 diameter. Never load a .310 diameter ball into a .310 caliber cap and ball pistol.

I remember when I bought a Colt 1849 pocket pistol for $50 dollars, and when I told my friend he said he had one I could have bought for $25! This was 1962, bought a Remington over and under derringer for $32.50 at the hardware/gunshop, those were the good old days!

Bought a Colt 1849 pocket pistol in 1962, only place in Memphis that sold black powder and caps only had buckshot, can't remember which size, but closest to .31 cal. , took my two cousins out to shoot, first shot was fine, second shot was a chain fire, both cousins got hit by shaved lead, I would have got my ass kicked, if I had been a little slower!

I was referring to the .31 caliber Vest Pocket Derringer listed here.......it comes with .310 RBs.

For what it's worth, due to inflation, $50 in 1962 is equal to $431.83 today.

Now, lets get back to talking about this gun sale. This is the Classified Ad section of the forum and idle discussions about things not related directly to the item being sold are out of bounds.

That's why I asked the question about the bore diameter vs. the RB size it comes with.
