I've got one of their Early VA. guns. Shoots great.

At the risk of starting another brawl over hc/pc stuff, you may or may not care about such things now, but you might later, so, if budget is an issue and you can't just buy another rifle when/if you need a more historically accurate rifle, get the gun in brass furniture. Mellow the brass with dirty cleaning patches from burning b.p. in it while sighting in.

I have a TVM Early Virginia as well, its a .50 with a swamped barrel. Wonderful rifle.

I don't know how old you are and big you are. 35 years ago I built a long rifle with a 1 in. barrel 42 in. long barrel. At that time I carried the weapon well and shot it well. No the weight is beginning to be a problem and the length also. I still shoot the gun it's just getting left at home more and I'm taking a shorter version of it hunting. Keep this in mind when looking for one. There are many builders out there that make fine firearms look at a lot before you decide.
