Trying to find the value of a New Englander I recently bought. I realized I won’t be satisfied until I get something on the lines of a Hawken or Renegade. The New Englander is a .50 with a plastic stock. Guy I bought it from said there was a spot of pitting on the outside of the barrel so he sand blasted the barrel and painted it high heat flat black. Bore looks good from what I can tell. I haven’t shot it but functions as it should. Any idea on what I should ask for it ?

Not much if it looks like I envision. Now if you were to restock it and give the metal a nice finish job it might make you happy, or be worth something to a potential customer.

Plastic stock and black painted barrel!!! I agree with Nobade -- not much. Don't know what you paid for it, but you'd be lucky to get that back out of it. Good luck.

Yep, you might want to give it a shot before letting it go. I bought one a couple years ago as a kit that came with a .50 barrel and a 12 bore barrel. I just wanted the shotgun and planned on selling the rifle barrel on ebay. First week in November and I decided to try it out before listing it for sale. After a few test shots I ended up in the deer woods with it all the way through january. The comfort and accuracy were impressive. As for being ugly, every guy needs a good knock around truck gun. Also good for hunting in bad weather. That's what my $60 pawn shop CVA sharpshooter is for.
