From what I understand this Springfield Stalker is H&R take on Bannerman Special which in turn was modernized 1861 musket.

Rifle in and out in excellent condition please see pictures. Love the fact that it is stamped Made in USA, always thought that Navy Arms were mostly Italian made guns.

What is the bore/groove diameter, I have a feeling that it may be a .457 barrel, left over from production of 45/70's.

It’s not. The original Bannerman guns were a motley mix of barrels but this barrel was purpose made by Harrington and Richardson for this rifle. H&R also manufactured a Topper based muzzleloader and those barrels were 1:48” ball rifled by H&R.
