We were splitting some wood up at camp in the Adks this weekend and found a block of Curly Maple. I grabbed chunk and cut a slab out this week, planed, sanded and stained it to see what it looks like:

Now for the best part. The bottom fifteen or so feet of the tree is uncut! I can plainly see curl on the stump. Looks like I've got some work ahead of me.
