This is an interesting antique piece. Flintlock, about .69 caliber 36 3/4" rifled barrel. Brass barrel bands. Lock is marked Thone & Zoon, (zoon is "son" in Dutch) Amsterdam. Architecture is similar to Dutch carbines from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The pan appears to have been overly cleaned up to a point that there's a gap where it dips below the breech flat. The lock aside from the pan is in good functioning shape. The frizzen has been resoled.
The ramrod is missing, but it seems to have had one on a swivel at some point, because what might instead be a bayonet lug appears to have half of a hole in it. The ramrod pipe is similar to one seen on a Thone & Zoon jaeger rifle I saw online on an auction site, but is oddly attached by a wedge key. Both sling swivels are present, but the bolt for the fore one needs to be replaced with a flat head one. The octagon to round barrel also looks more like a trade gun barrel, with a wedding band, and though it's rifled I dont see any evidence of a rear sight. Additionally, the barrel shows evidence of bands being in different places on it at some point.
C 78 is stamped on the buttplate tang. This is a neat piece that appears to be from the Napoleonic era, though some parts might be later or earlier. Other The sideplate and trigger guard also have a civilian flair to them. There is a stamp of "DO" on the left side of the stock, behind the side plate. Overall length is just under 53 inches.
