Hello folks. Need a little help. I found some percussion cap rain guards while surfing made by Blue And Gray, I think it was a bag of 50. I thought I bookmarked the site but I must not have since I can't find it. Can anyone help me. These guards look like small plastic tubes. Thanks :idunno:

Welcome to the forum. Hey I have seen those and just my opinion save your money. A good fitting cap on the nipple is satisfactory IMO. There are a lot of cheap ways to protect your rifle from weather. Think back a 150 years. Again welcome and good luck

Thanks Hacksaw. I know it probably cheaper to just grease up around the nipple. But It's a mess (lol) And I am open for any advice from anyone. Mainly was thinking about BP revolvers. :

Try Gun Works Muzzleloading Emporium for your rain guards, that's where I get mine. Go to their website and click on "shooting aids" then click on"hunting aids" then click on"nipple protection". I've been using them for years when I hunt. Besides keeping moisture out, they prevent the cap from sometimes sticking up in the hammer(on rifles)It's a lot easier to pay about .06 each for them than to have to dig in your pouch for a pick on that one time you need a second shot quick only to find your cap is stuck up in the hammer. I have a slot in the front of my hammer but the caps still stick sometimes w/o the cap guards.

Ranger I have used a small piece of Saran or other plastic wrap if it is really wet out there, and had good luck

Yes. Put a small piece of plastic wrap between the nipple and the cap when you cap the nipple. It will seal the nipple perfectly against moisture, and when the cap fires, it will burn right through the plastic.

-----I cut a small piece of air line for aquariums put cap on a bare nipple then slip a piece of air line over nipple till it touches sides of nipple below cap--works in an all day rain-----
