I am going to build a box to fire blue barrels after reading the instructions in a past post. I would like to do the locks too but what do I do about the frizzen? I think the heat might affect it and if so what can I do instead to match it to the rest of the hardware?

Heating the lockplate hot enough to fire blue would remove any hardness. Soft steel is not desired for any wear surface, and the plate certainly is a wear surface.

Old lockplates were usually finished in the white, as opposed to blued.
