Being newly interested in muzzleloading and flintlocks- and not owning a gun yet-most of what I read here is fairly greek to me. I'm picking up some of it and actually understanding a little in the few days I've been coming here.

Is there some sort of primer available ("Muzzleloading Flintlocks for Dummies"?) to new folks like myself with photos, descriptions, and general directions? An instructional video or DVD would be awesome as well, as I'm the type that learns best by using visual means.

Thanks!

Jerry

Jerry: " The Complete Blackpowder Handbook", by Sam Fadala, fourth edition, Krause Publications. Very informative. Author Sam Fadala, really knows his stuff. Lots of basics for the beginner. Also " Shooting Black Powder Muzzleloading Firearms", by Thompson Center. (603) 332-2333.This is a small handbook, but gives basics, and is informative. Hope this helps.

Siyo Jerry, I am no pro by no means, I've only been shooting for about ten years and not continually. But I have found a lot of information and great pictures in Muzzle loader Mag. It doesn't all come at once but each issue usually contains something you can use.

Good Luck KT

Thanks!! You've all been very helpful. Now I know what a frizzen is. Ordered Fadala's book from Amazon. I'll order a gun just as soon as I sell a bow or three.
