Ran across this today in my buddies house hanging on the wall as a decoration. I had to take it down for further inspection. I don’t have any way to measure the bore but it still appears to be 58 but it looks smooth or the rifling is so faint I can’t see it. I’m four states away from home so I don’t have a bore light or anything to measure with. Appears to be original. I’d never heard of an enfield in horse Calvary form. It’s very unique. There are some odd markings in and in front of the tang that appear to be Arabic. What do y’all think?

Is original. Pattern 1856 Cavalry Carbine. Here is 1 I had posted on this very site: WITHDRAWN - Original Enfield: Pattern 1856 Cavalry Saddle Ring Carbine
Many of these were bored out from rifled to smooth as to make them inferior to British arms at the time. Then, they were shipped to Indian regiments, hence the proper proof marks on the barrel and the later Indian marks.
