Reduced Took awhile to sort out, but the Hive Mind set me straight. This is a nice example of a defarbed Pedersoli Brown Bess with 1762 dated GRICE lock. All modern markings scrubbed and replaced with some Broad Arrows and inspector initials. Metal mostly a dulled bright finish with some scattered mottling. No rust. The bore is bright after I scrubbed out the grey-brown powdery residue left by some kind of BP substitute. I have encountered this alot in recent years. Bores look rotten, but brushing leaves them looking new. No idea what the stuff is. Wood is in very good condition, with minimal handling marks. Here is your chance to get a reenactment ready Bess for hundreds less than it would cost to buy and have defarbed. A little light polishing and it would look almost new. $1250 + Shipping.
