Cannon Id

I saw this small cannon in the office of a metal recycling yard. They said it had been there for over 30 years. It was stolen once and recovered. My guess is that it was a signal cannon for a boat.

The owner sent me pics today so I thought I'd post em here and hopefully get some info on it.

 

Its a marine emergency line throwing cannon manufactured by the NAVAL CO.

The one you show would seem to be an early model with the cast mount.

Very similar to a Lyle's gun.
