Picked up some new to me winter projects from a small local shop last week. Rifle #1 is a Cabelas Investarms In .54cal. Got her home, started to break it down and I noticed the underlug has been repaired/welded. I've read that Investarms rifles had weak underlug issues. Not the prettiest repair but it doesn't look as though much heat had been put into the barrel with the tack and file style of the repair. Am I going to shoot myself in the foot by building up the bottom strap of my underlug using my tig welder and filing it back to clean it up. What's left seems a little thin. Thanks in advance.
