Nothing special. But since I made it, I thought I'd post a photo. The round ball starters hurt my hand after a couple long days of shooting, so I made something a lot more friendly. The stem is 4 inches long. Fire-hardened cupped tip, not that Hickory needs to be hardened...

I put a couple hundred balls down the muzzle of my barrel. The Hickory stem is definitely hard, but I can see that eventually it will wear out. So I am going to add a brass tip.
