Hello from the Rangitikei, NZ! Seem to be a few Kiwis on this forum - although to be fair I've been in NZ for only 5 years so I'm more of a Pom
I have been hunting for a long time but never used black powder - but I have just ordered a Lyman Great Plains Rifle Kit from the USA as a winter project. From what people say they seem to be a good starter and hopefully a good rifle at the end of it too! Cheers!

Welcome to the dark side. Your right about that being a good starter gun. Just take your time working on it the slower you go the better the end results. There are a lot of knowledgeable folks here that can help you down the right trail.
So have a seat, fill yer tin cup as the coffees jest finished boiling.

Welcome. I was going to visit the range near Palmerston North but something came up. I am shooting with the Greater Wellington Muzzleloaders. I would be interested in how it goes with your Lymans. The guys at the club say importing muzzleloaders can be reasonably complicated with customs etc.
