clif its a cape lilac tree heres a pic of the tree. The Cape lilac we have in Western Australia is Melia
azedarach, which originated in the Himalaya region.
Overseas it is called Chinaberry or White cedar. It is
closely related to the Australian form, Melia azedarach
var. australasica, a native of New South Wales,
Queensland and New Guinea, where it is more often
called White cedar.i have the native one.

Now you went and done it you peeked my interest,Bernie!
Is it considered a hardwood ?
We have what is called a Chinaberry Tree here in Florida. I remember hearing my father in law talk about the mess the one in his yard made of some concrete he had just poured.A storm came up and the buds or nuts or something fell off into his fresh concrete. He didn't have time to pick them out and had to trowel out to finish as concrete was setting. When the nuts or buds rotted the concrete had the pox holes. :shake: Wonder if it could be the same species. :hmm: I might have to check into that!!!!!!! That shore is some pretty wood.

"clif its a cape lilac tree "

Wood huh? I thought at first it was a piece of Kangaroo horn.

clif it is the same tree its the hymalain one, get a pice of branch from your father in law try and cut it where it grows out then you will get the crown cut it 3"longer than you need and put melted bees wax on both ends to stop it spliting and leave for 3 months.you will have to experiment with the time you leave it dont know how it will react in your climate.
