Adjusted the hex screw but haven't seen any noticable difference.
Is the procedure described in the manual for rifles the same for the Patriot ?
 
Mine has a small Allen screw that allows adjustment. Turn the screw in to lighten the trigger pull, turn it out to make it heavier.

No!
The FRONT is the SET and the REAR is the FIRING trigger.
The triggers MUST BE SET to FIRE they are NOT designed like the rifle that will fire either set or un-set.
And don't forget to clean and oil the lock an triggers
