I was finally able to obtain a mould for my 1861 Springfield rile.
Sent a note to Brooks Moulds on 11/17/2021 and had the mould on 12/10/2021.
I am very impressed with the design and the quality of the mould, and the speed of the whole transaction.
Thank you Steve & Gayle.

Looks like a high quality mould. Very thick walls on the bullet though, may take a heavy charge to get it to expand. What size it it, and what size is the bore on your musket?

I have a Brooks mold and it's a top notch piece.

But let's be fair here, what's going on with the minie in the comparison picture. I have minies cast from my Moose and RCBS that look as good as one from the Brooks.

The mini on the left looks like it was found in the driveway. :D

I have a Brooks mold for my Sharps and I haven't gotten around to trying it yet. :( Top quality piece though and it has the thick sprue plate with a run off groove cut in it which Steve says helps when pouring with a ladle (most of my casting).

They are .5775 to .578 the 2 samples that came with the mould. The bore is .577

The minnie on the left is how a small box of 25 I ordered before the mould was sent to me. Where they had been before that is a mystery. All of them will be recast
