I finally spent some time shooting my Pedersoli 1861 Springfield at 100 yards using the Lyman 575213OS minnie with many different loads before moving out to 100 yards. With the service load of 60 grains BP I used 3F instead of 2F powder. I was able to keep them within 4 inches at 100 yards off a bench. With this load it shoots POA if I let the rifle do its thing and if I can maintain the same sight picture with stock sights. Lube is SPG which worked fine controlling fouling between 15 shot strings. Overall im pretty pleased and will try some different lubes and powder charges and granulations. I know some of you may scoff but considering ive only shot 100 minnies I think its pretty good. I dont have any plans at this point to change sights as Im sort of an traditionalist. I am however already "considering" at 1853 Enfield but that down the road.
