    Vintage Buffalo Company Bullets question

I have 2 boxes of flat nose and tried selling them, even tried giving them away and no takers. I asked $10 at first, reduced price to $5. Good luck.

Large Siler Lock Jaws to Frizzen Alignment

Had a small Siler with the same issue. Bent the hammer slightly to get it a little closer. But my flint still sits off to the side in the jaws. Sparks and sets off the charge so I'm ok with that.

First Flint bore charge not going off.

You need to dry patch before shooting to remove any oil that may be down by the flash hole. No need to patch with any kind of liquid. Insert your touch hole pick and proceed to load. Remove your pick after loading. This assures a good channel to your charge. Keep an eye on your pick because it...

    Maybe better patch lube option?

I am a convert to Dawn and water. It was presented to me by a champion shooter of our region. Just enough dawn to make the water feel slick. It doesn't take much.

Odd results; bench vs. offhand shooting

When I was sighting in my flintlock on the bench I was getting close but could not seem to get it zeroed in. One of our clubs experts advised me to finish up my sighting offhand as Flintlocks are "persnickety" on the bench. His advice panned out.

    Wesson rifle

That is the main comment I have heard over the years, questionable metal used for the casting.

Took my new Traditions Crockett to range for the first time

I have a CVA Squirrel, so, similar but not quite the same. 50 yards no problem, 80 is a challenge, I have not yet hit a 100 yard target with it (but I have not tried either). I shoot 10 grains 3f which seems to be plenty for target shooting.

    Modding a Traditions Hawken rifle

Sounds like you want to mess with it, but other than the sights, I would let it age naturally. The brass will patina fairly quick along with the steel heads of the screws. Plus finding actual brass screws may be hard. The last ones I bought were plated and weak. They would twist off in the wood.

    Joann's - what am I doing wrong ?

Unfortunately, JoAnn's is going down. Just read an article in Wall Street Journal that they are slated to close 100's of stores.

    Gun range

Fortunate to belong to a muzzleloading club that has enjoyed the privilege of leasing the same land for 20 years now. Otherwise it would be tough. Only one small public range within driving distance and I mean small. A couple club ranges in the vicinity.

    pa pellet

If I read the original post correctly, you say you are pushing 4f into the flash hole. The flash hole must be clear, that is why many, if not all flintlock shooters pick the hole. You don't want a "fuse" of black powder to the ignition chamber, you want a clear path for the superheated gasses...

    Getting too many misfires

If using Pyrodex make sure you are using a magnum cap like CCI Magnum or RWS plus. That will typically take care of the misfires with substitutes.

    Is FFFG the Cause

Triple 7 is a hot burning powder, so that may be your main cause for burnt patches. too thin of a patch or load combination is the other main cause for patch burning, add lube to that equation. When done shooting the pre-lubed patches, start using material that you lube as you shoot.

CVA/ Ardesa/ Traditions Stock- ID help

Hmm, I see other pictures of Frontiers on the web that have that same wood grain.

CVA/ Ardesa/ Traditions Stock- ID help

That wood does not appear to be the European Beech that the CVA-Ardessa guns are primarily stocked with. Maybe it is one of the Italian Euroarms or Investarms models.
