    straight razor shaving

I'm not a doctor either, but I remember for school that HIV cannot survive outside of the body in a dry environment. Letting your razor soak in alcohol will kill everything. Having said that, I retired that razor in my pictures for the weekend after I used it on my friend, there. I did that...

    straight razor shaving

My camp razor is an orginal c. 1820's wedge I picked up. Shaving in camp is very doable, just keep boiling water nearby and be sure to do a good job of prepping your face with that water.

    Newly Aquired D.R. Hopkins Rifle-Photos

My father just recently aquired a rifle built by D.R. Hopkins. We know little about this builder other than it appears he went out of business in 1984? We know he built rifles in Tennesee and that's about it. Go ahead and chime in if you know anything about ole' "Doc" Hopkins. I need to mic...

    Anyone heard from Roy Stroh?

No need for explanation or apologies, just delete what is now an unnecessary thread.

    Anyone heard from Roy Stroh?

Quite honestly, this thread was unnecessary and potentially damaging to a great builder. As usual, his response was classy, honest, and direct. I move that this entire thread be deleted and you carry on your business with Roy in private and away from this public forum.

    RifleingTwist

My .45 is a 1:66 twist and actually shoots best with 70gr of 3F. It's great out to 100 yards.

The Applecore Inn at Mississinewa (photos)

The origin of the name came from our own group. The rest of the sign is based on this 1811 original:

The Applecore Inn at Mississinewa (photos)

This year at Mississinewa, a couple of friends and myself decided we wanted to throw a tavern/sutler of spirits concept out there in the Camp Follower section at the Battle of Mississinewa. So, we got busy looking up period tavern recipes and food, I made a sign based on an 1811 original, and...

Which BP Pistols and rifles Have Removeable Barrels?

I don't even remove my hooked breech barrels when cleaning. My first long rifles had pinned and keyed barrels. I had some anxiety over not being able to easily remove the barrel, but it proved not to be an issue. In fact, it's a piece of cake. You just plug the touchhole with a feather or a...

    Must read suggestions 1750-90

I will suggest Henry Wansey and his American Journal, also titled An Excursion to the United States of America. It is his first hand account of his travels through your neck of the woods to observe American textile manufactories in 1794. He makes some great observations of life in the New...

    Myth of the Unreliable Flintlock

As a rule, I shoot from the bag and only have issues when I try to stretch the life of a flint out longer than I should. I see guys on occasion that struggle the entire shoot like you described. During a shoot last year, I myself had a number of klatches which I couldn't explain. I was...
