Caywood english fowler lock trigger adjustment.

I fixed this finally I had to shim the front of the lock plate with a washer. I think at some point inthe past someone tightened it to tight and smashed the wood at the front of the plate. Which caused it to press against the wood and the problem with the sear.

    Current percussion cap source

If you have or know someone with a 3d printer you can print your own die and just order the compound. That’s what I did but I don’t like the residue the compound leaves behind after firing them.

Some people are just unhappy about life. Others enjoy trying to bring a little happiness and maybe new people into the hobby.

Wads, balls, shot, tow and MORE

So this maybe a stupid question but most don't use a patch like used on a rifled gun??? I'm new to smoothbore I have been using a patch like a rifled gun. My accuracy hasn't been great but I've been blaming myself witch totally could still be true. Would accuracy be better with a wad then...

So I took a file and filed out a little bit out it seems to be better. My question when you all say the lock should my be cranked down I get that but how tight should it be? Pictures for reference if someone sees something I’m missing. Another question at full cock if I whack the cock with the...

Caywood english fowler lock trigger adjustment.

Ok this is great info. Just for the record I bought the gun used. I left a message with caywood to get some info possibly for this gun like approximate year of manufacture and the same question I asked here. I guess I’m a little impatient so I asked here.

Caywood english fowler lock trigger adjustment.

Thanks for the helpful ideas i will try that. So I thought Caywood was a decent gun maker? Better than box store models. I will look for that spring on the lock also.

Caywood english fowler lock trigger adjustment.

I have a Caywood English Fowler that when the lock is tightened down the cock won't stay cocked. If I loosen the screws a turn or two it will work fine. I believe its alignment with the trigger and the sear. Is there a adjustment on the trigger or would this be on the lock side. I just purchased...
