    Shotgun Shooting Bag

When Jethro is not busy being a Moderator here he builds a purty nice shooting bag. I needed a roomy bag for my shotgun with pockets for cards and cushions. This is the 2nd bag I have made by Jethro. He took 2 goats in trade for this one.

    German Double Rifle

A friend purchased this double rifle at an auction. His name is Rieger and thinks that the gunmaker, Johan Rieger may be related. The information he has is that Rieger made firearms from 1843 to 1855. The 27" barrels are .50 caliber. It's obviously a fine built rifle. Any information about the...

    Bismuth/Tin Alloy for Roundballs

I cast some "non-toxic" roundballs from a bismuth/tin alloy that's available from Roto-Metals. The 7% tin is supposed to make it less brittle. My .490" RCBS mold throws a .496" ball that weighs 155 grains with the alloy. This mold normally casts a pure lead r/ball that measures .492" and...

    Hawken parts

A buddy of mine was gifted a couple guns. One is a Hawken repro that needs a hammer. Not sure if it was a kit but is poorly put together. The barrel, which looks pristine, is marked "J&S Hawken St. Louis" Made by GR Douglas. "Russ Hamm" is stamped on the inside of the lock plate. The lock is...

    Shot Flask

A friend found this flask in an antique store and gifted it to me. It looks 20th century to me but I might be wrong. Also wondering if the mechanism is supposed to have a spring to keep it in one position. GW

The 2nd Kewlest Holster in the World

I didn't want to have to arm wrestle Mike for the 1st place spot. But I'm happy as heck this Swampy-Built holster for my 1860 Army. I picked out an original "California" style holster from some pictures that I liked except for the carving. Rich added the fringe and I was a happy camper...

Adventures of a Belgian Argonaut during the gold rush years. I'm about half way thru this book. Very interesting, at least to me. In 1851, Jean-Nicholas Perlot made his way to Monterey CA from Belgium and then on to the Mother Lode area. Some of his travels took him close to my home. He...
