Can I use lead shot in a Cold Walker?

I tried this when I was a teenager back in the 80s. It seems that the rifling really throws the pattern off. I was unable to take a squirrel at approximately 10 yards. I used a Wonder wad over the powder and another one over the shot. I gave up because even if you made a shot cup it was still...

    Flintlock muzzleloaders will rule again

An old style cotton mop head is perfect. You're going to want to treat it with some potassium nitrate in water then it will never go out.

    Flintlock muzzleloaders will rule again

Everyone assumes the flintlock is the perfect apocalypse gun. It's not for me for me it's percussion. I have a lifetime supply of cap making ingredients. 1 lb of each chemical will literally last you forever. Flints on the other hand don't occur naturally where I live and I can't make a flint...

    Do you gut your deer?

As far as I'm concerned that thing needs gutted as soon as possible. It's the bacteria in the guts that makes it rot. Also you need to get it cooled down as quickly as possible. I have it down to a science at this point I just pull out the guts at the kill site I don't bother splitting the...

    Do you gut your deer?

That's hilarious I'm not allowed to shoot the local deer either. Every once in awhile the wife will pick one out that is being mean to the other deer and I'm allowed to shoot that one haha

File & rasp sharpening service review

Vinegar is an acid. Most blacksmiths use muriatic acid to sharpen their files. Works a lot faster but you have to be quick about taking it out. The acid eats away some of the metal reducing the radius of the worn out Edge. You can't do it forever just a few times per file

    “Waterproofing” your lock

I'm sure that would work fantastic for rain but up north with a wet snow in the late season it seems that the humidity for my body condenses all over the gun and turns my Prime to mush.

    Punch for stock pins

I did not have time to read the entire thread but when my punch is too big I Chuck it up in the drill and spin it while holding sandpaper around the punch part with my fingers and a glove or a piece of leather and sand it down to the correct size.

    Kentucky pistol carry

Yes that's what I'm trying to say

    Kentucky pistol carry

I am thinking of a simple sling thing for it like the ones you see when you Google it but then it would have a cow's knee type thing covering it and it would be hanging in the sling under that worn under the shoulder around the neck like a Powder Horn

    Kentucky pistol carry

I already did that first and I didn't like any of them. I do have an idea though

    Kentucky pistol carry

How was a single shot pistol traditionally carried? I want to make a holster that makes sense. Thanks in advance for any reply

Tell me of your cleaning rituals

I am into totally disassembling it. And I submerge the breach in hot soapy water and pump away with a cleaning Jag followed by some dry patches and WD-40 to chase the moisture away. I will soak the lock in the same bucket and use a toothbrush on it followed by the same WD-40 treatment . I always...

I keep a small cloth wet with Windex it works perfectly and dries instantly. If you don't wipe it it will attract moisture and ruin your next prime
