Steel Tubing, Aluminum Tubing, Black Locust, A .45 Barrel Stub, Golf Balls and Gun Powder.........What Could Possibly Go Wrong.

I can appreciate the humor. I just find being called cheap and not knowing what I'm doing offensive.

Thankfully black powder cannons are 100% good to go. For now. If the .69 caliber naval cannons were available from Traditions, I wouldn't have to build one that launches golf balls. Not might launch golf balls. Will launch golf balls.

With respect, there is no danger of that breech letting loose. If I had thought that, I wouldn't have built it. What I built is no different than inletting a steel tang and breech into a wooden stock just ahead of the wrist. Exact same concept. My piece is sturdier because it's completely...

Drop tube that mates with the taper in the powder chamber. .140 fuse hole drilled. Just needs paint.

So that ball will launch OK with a .080 difference between ball and bore?

    not holding half cock

I don't know how sloppy your trigger channel/inlet is, left to right, but it looks to me like the tip of your sear bar is riding along the side of your trigger. There is a radius being formed by the grease. And if the sear bar is sliding past the trigger, it could be doing it while you're...

Picture yourself inside that trigger/sear group. What is that red grease line telling you? Think it through some and tell us what you're seeing.

Hey, OP. Mind if I ask where you found that small mainspring vise. My big mainspring vise is too big. Thanks.

^^^Then either inlet the front of the guard or remove some brass or both.^^^ I'll channel my inner Joe Biden and say DON'T don't don't don't try bending that trigger guard.

^^^I like that.^^^ Trying to figure out a creative looking carriage for mine. I'm thinking the left-over aluminum tubing could be used as a socket for the breech. Then I could remove the barrel for loading and cleaning.

    not holding half cock

And your 1/2 cock looks like an 1/8 cock. Square up and deepen the half cock notch. Does TRS use drug addled beavers to chew parts to final dimension? Looks worse than L&R and I didn't think that was possible.

But wait. There's more. Still need to cross pin the breech plug and drill for the cannon fuse. Gave her a stepped breech area so she looks more cannonish. Should look good painted matte black or olive drab if I go the military mortarish route. Amazon now sells and delivers ammo. Just arrived...

Laminated golf ball cannon barrel coming together. .300 wall thickness. .335 if I use a .035 aluminum sleeve for a tighter bore. Any concerns with using aluminum in conjunction with gun powder? May just go with steel and a thin t-shirt patch so there isn't any resistance. .45 barrel stub...

What causes this line to mess up my rust blue?

Agree. Contamination of some kind that leeched out during the bluing process. I'd leave it be. Doesn't look terrible. But I'm sure it looks much worse to you.
