Squirrel season started on 9/1. Wife loves to squirrel hunt but with garden stuff to can and I put up 19 facecord of firewood we hadn't gone out back to enjoy our woods and get some tree rats. Yesterday we decided it's time to take a day off and hunt. Wife got her trusty 20 gauge and I felt a...

    Metal working files?

I have been using Nicholson files for many years. Now that I'm retired I bought a new Nicholson 10" bastard to touch up the splitting wedges for firewood. A good trick is to put sidewalk chalk on the file and it will not load up with metal filings.

    Dixie Gun Works

Bought an Ulberti 1858 Remington New Model Army form DGW and noticed the rifling was messed up near the bore. Talked with a tech there and was told to send it back. They sent a replacement revolver back to me in 2 days. Never had a problem getting in touch with them or speaking to a tech. They...

Nice leather gear for your wheelguns.....

I recently got a Triple K 602 Hunter’s Shoulder Holster for my 1858 New Model Army and it is a very well made holster. It can be worn across the chest and is a secure fit for the gun. I'm able to drive and it doesn't interfere at all. Looking forward to hunt from the treestand as the gun will be...

    Leather softener

Fiebings mink oil paste. Bought a Triple K Hunter’s Shoulder Holster for my Uberti 1858 New Model Army and the leather straps were a bit brittle. Put 3 or 4 coatings of mink oil paste on both sides as well as the holster and they are supple and soft.

We're in western NY State in a one room log cabin, high up on a hilltop. Some days we have to help push the clouds over the hill just to keep them moving.

    Hello from Western NY

First started muzzleloader hunting in the late 70's early 80's with a T/C Pennsylvania Hunter. It proudly hangs on the wall of our log cabin. I got the bug for a black powder revolver and got a Remington New Model Army from DGW. Now need to have a little more snow melt in the woods so I can get...

    Shimming a Hammer

Thank you. I'll get brave and start by taking off the grips and see what it looks like. Then go from there. Is there a source for shims and what thickness should I start with?

    Shimming a Hammer

I'm a proud new owner of an Uberti 1858 new model army in S/S and target sights. While going over the gun I see the hammer hits heavy on the left side of the frame. I've read many posts saying you put a shim on the hammer but I can't find a video of someone doing it. Also where does someone find...
