    Which blackpowder substitutes?

Colorado Clyde””- I have good resources here for a variety of the substitutes. When I get low enough on BP I order it in enough quantity to make the cost reasonable. Mainly I want it for less cleaning between shots and keep the big orders of BP down.

    J.C. Gorges Flintlock

If you have a friendly machinist with plug gauges then that can give you very accurate land to land measurements. They usually come in sets that increase .001.

New Member From Gun Friendly California

Welcome Gary-- I have one girl who graduated from LSU and two from ULL in Lafayette. Back in the very early 60's I shot with the Fort Sutter Muzzleloaders-- great bunch of guys who introduced me to muzzleloading with a big emphasis on safety. Went to the '63 state shoot in Fresno with my father...

    Ft. Bridger rendevous

Did a walk thru the Ft Bridger Rendevous today. Billed as largest in the West and I believe it. Picked up a Ft Meigs bag axe. Also picked up a hand held vice that is constructed like a miniature version of the pole vices that the blacksmiths use. The rendevous goes thru Monday so may make it...

    Cracker Barrel Find

I was at the Cracker Barrel in Lexington, KY and this muzzleloader above the fireplace caught my eye. It was at least .50cal and the under rib was wood--no markings I could see. I associate this type rifle and cal with what would have been used in the Great Plains and Mouintain West. this is...
