    Loading a 1858 with 1-2F powder?

Hey my friends. i want to hear pros and cons of loading a cal .44 remington 1858 with 1F or 2F powder! Got some powder here that's about 1-2F. I know i should shoot 3F in it. I guess it might burn slower and leave more fouling? By how much would the velocity drop? Thank you.

    Homemade black powder

Hello! I'm shooting cal .44 1858's. I got some homemade black powder and since there are different sizes on powder like 1F to 4F i'm wondering if i should load less using this powder since it's probably much smaller then 4F. It's very fine powder... i will send a picture below. Should i load...

What type of corn meal can i use? Also a question about chainfire. /Paper cartridges

Oooh got ya! Thank you....i just lubed my cartridges.....with candle wax and i have no clue what type of wax that was...doubt it's anything vegetable. Hope i didn't destroy my cartridges by that? Made several cartridges and lubed them with that. What happens if it's not soy wax?

What type of corn meal can i use? Also a question about chainfire. /Paper cartridges

Hopefully this might work. It's candle wax, coconut oil, olive oil mix, 20 grains pyrodex and corn meal with a conical lee. How good is candle wax for this purpose? I will get the beewax soon. My friends knows a beekeeper so i talked to him. But isn't candle wax as good for sealing?

What type of corn meal can i use? Also a question about chainfire. /Paper cartridges

I think anything in between the bullet and the powder might help a bit. I mean it's harder for heat to pass by if it's a conical that seats well and a bunch behind like corn meal, wheat cream, a wad or whatever then only a loosen ball so i think that's correct. Not sure about the flash point of...

What's your chamber and ball or conical diameters? I heard from a guy these lee conicals aren't supposed to shave a ring, not sure how true it is. They seat really well tho i would say. Especially compared to the .454 balls i tried before. My guns chambers might be .457

What type of corn meal can i use? Also a question about chainfire. /Paper cartridges

Nice man thanks for information! My goal kinda is making cartridges that are ready to just get pressed down into chambers and shot without chainfire. Even tho i don't need to do that all the time. I think it would be harder making with lubed wads wouldn't it? And what's these hollow point...

There is! i will try to find one around me! I didn't know you can use simple candle wax? Does that lube as good as beewax or it's not slaightly as good? Thank you. That was interesting because that's stuff you always have at home mostly. I'm wondering to try that out because then i would only...

What type of corn meal can i use? Also a question about chainfire. /Paper cartridges

Thank you! I will do that test one day with the caps. I usually squeeze my caps a bit for them not to fall off while shooting. I hope that won't cause a chainfire one day. I'm new to all this i got my guns i guess around 1,5 year ago or so when i had the chance to get them.
