TC flintlock cock, any replacements fit?

I dunno about anyone making new cock's for the T\C. I'm sure you know there are replacement locks you can buy. I checked Ebay for T\C but the prices for a factory T\C lock are outrageous (from $150-$300). I think L&R replacement locks are like $150 for percussion and more for a flint. FWIW

LePage? They don't go "BOOM".....they go "Le-BOOM"

    Hawkens green mt barrel

I put a GM replacement on my T\C about ten years ago. .50 cal and it's been a tac driver since day one. When I built my Leman I put a GM .54 cal barrel on it. After shooting different loads using Hornady .535 RB and .015 pillow ticking with mink oil lube, I ended up with a charge of 110gr. GOEX...

    Asking for Powder Charge Recommendations

Between 20-40gr FFF is a good range. I have a 50 caliber pistol with a 12" barrel that I use for deer hunting. I use a charge of 50gr FFF and a Hornady Pa Conical that weighs 240 gr.. This load gives me a MV of 939fps and at 50 yards calculates to be 844fps. The 50 yards is the maximum range I...

Questions on bringing a T/C Hawken back to life

I dunno if you're using a cut flint in your rifle......but those are not (IMHO) the best. Get some good quality English flints and install with the bevel down. That should give you a higher "hit" on the frizzen and improve the spark going to the pan.

    An Unusual Hawken

I think they stole my T\C remake!!!

    Trigger issue

First....if you're going to file anything....file the part that is the cheapest to replace. I this case, that would be the trigger.....NOT the sear bar!! Triggers can be replaced for much less $$$ and aggravation that the sear bar. Now, BOTH triggers are designed to engage (hit) the sear bar...

Why the lack of gobbling during wet weather???

From all the "hunting turkey" books I've read, they have all stated that the rain drops hitting everywhere pretty much takes out their ability to hear anything trying to eat them. So, they head to the fields where they can rely on their superior vision and spot any potential danger. I...

What am I doing wrong? Confused

As others have stated, don't use "Wonder Lube". As I've always contended.....what's so "wonderful" about Wonder Lube? Go to your local pharmacy and pick up a box of alcohol swabs. They are cheap and easy to keep a bunch in your possibility bag. When you think you need to swab the barrel, just...

    Bling Inlays....Elk teeth??

Thanks Gent's. I know knife makers inlet 'em in the handles.....I just didn't know if anyone had done it in a rifle stock. I think the teeth are safe from ending up in a rifle stock.

    Bling Inlays....Elk teeth??

Jewelry is always a possibility...for most. I cannot wear rings or wrist watches because of my medical condition. (Yeah...sounds silly, but it's true) Rings and wrist watches put pressure on my wrist\finger and after an hour or so, my wrist or finger will feel like one big toothache. I had to...

    Bling Inlays....Elk teeth??

    Welp, I only have 3 flinters. A pistol, a T\C Hawken, and a Leman.

    Bling Inlays....Elk teeth??

A very good friend of mine gave me a set of elk teeth. (Bugler's) Not really knowing what to do with them I was thinking what would they look like inlayed in the stock of a flinter? Too much bling? Not PC....but that's not a big deal to me. Will it look like an elk bit the flintlock? o_O And...

    Dremel bit?

Just use a jeweler's file. Doesn't take long and if you slip.....nothing gets botched.

    Refinished my T\C Hawken

I used this "stuff" called Historic House Solutions. Brass Tarnishing A visit to their web site shows the small bottle $7.50 is out of stock. The small bottle is plenty enough to use on several guns. Brass...plus if you want that grey patina look it works great for that. Jim Kibler has a video...

    Refinished my T\C Hawken

Fred.....I think my original barrel was cut at the end of the cutter's useful life. I know factory barrels that shoot very well.....but mine just didn't.

    Refinished my T\C Hawken

Since we were in COVID mode, I decided to re-finish my 40+ YO T\C Hawken. Originally purchased in 1980 with some light sanding and a few coats of True Oil, the gun has seen a lot of hunting under different weather conditions over the years. It's been dropped, many times, threw it across a...

    Thompson Center Hawken

T\C Hawken's IMHO, got the flintlock "business" in the right direction. I recently re-finished my 40+ YO Kit Hawken rife. I'll start a separate thread when I get a chance.....but here's the end product after refinishing a gun that has been hunted a lot. Note: This has a replacement Green Mt...

    Pistols vs Rifles?

Gotta admit that the first flintlock I built was a pistol. Pa made it legal for 50 cal flintlock pistols to be used for deer so I wanted one. I built one using some local sourced nice figure walnut and had zero experience building or even knowing what to look for or at. The initial build was...
