I have a question about a CVA hawken rifle. I am working somewhat remotely but my nephew bought one recently and it may have a problem with the triggers. When at full cock if the set trigger is pushed forward it drops the hammer. Is this something to worry about. I told him the first thing is to...
I have a ERA Cumberland Rifle that I picked up used.
I have been trying to do some research into the background of the rifle style.
Are there any online links to the history of the cumberland rifle?
How does one size minie balls?
I know they are forced through a die of the right size. But how?
Is there a special contraption for doing this?
Where can I buy a sizing setup?

I recently inherited a fire safe as seen in this link:
http://www.sentrysafe.com/Products/176/KS4100_KeepSafe_
Could I use it to store powder in? Currently I use old ammo cans. I am wondering if it is more of a danger in a fire safe than in the ammo cans.
Thanks for your input.

Hickory for ram rods
I have a brother-in-law with several Hickory trees.
While he is not cutting any down any time soon he does trim off large branches from time to time.
Can you get a ramrod from a limb?
If so, how big does it have to be?
Thanks,

Can you shoot a right handed flintlock left handed?
I have known several cap lock shooters who shoot right handed guns left handed. But never a flintlock shooter. I was just wonderign if there is a reason why?
Thanks,

Also does anyone know how they were lubed?

I have a Pedersoli trade gun that I like very much and have two questions.
First: I have heard there is a replacement side plate available from some where that is more historicaly accurate. Can any one tell me what it is and where I can get one.
Second: The lock has only one thru bolt on it...
FYI:
I have not seen this but it looks interesting.

"Milius, an avid gun collector, insisted that part of his payment for writing Jeremiah Johnson (1972) be in antique weapons."

Multiple cylinder pistols.
Years ago I remember seeing a book about civil war weapons that has pictures of civil war era revolvers with multiple cylinders. The cylinders were stacked behind each other. Anyone ever heard of this?
