    Gluing leather to flint

I agree with all of you, however, through the years I have put aside a couple dozen "reject" flints that have a high spot on the top (not parallel with the bottom) that will not stay tight in the jaws. the glue thing could make these flints useful.

    plugging hole

Well, I broke my number one rule of not working on the gun if I don't feel the inspiration, and somehow drilled the hole for the tang bolt about 3/32 off the center of the tang. What are the recommended methods to fill the hole before re-drilling? Thunder

It is the same lock. It made a world of difference on my son's trade rifle. You do have to hog out some wood, but is pretty easy.

Haines style flintlock with iron mounts?

As the owner of Birddog6's iron mounted Haines, when I ordered it, I knew that the iron probably wasn't authentic, but I wanted the gun for me. I can tell you that she gets lots of attention every time I take her out, and no one has ever questioned the iron. Thanks Keith, I'm still enjoying her...

Stupid things I have seen people do with a Muzzleloader, or while shooting a muz

Back in the late 70's I was at a shoot when this feller walks up to the line with a brand new custom built plains rifle. He was rightfully proud of the gun and spared no effort in letting everyone know how much he spent and how superior it was to everyone elses gun. :yakyak: Some of you may...

Stupid things I have seen people do with a Muzzleloader, or while shooting a muz

Many, many years ago, I was shooting at an informal BP range set up in an old sand pit. after a while, a fellow pulls up in a brand new pickup and sets up his loading station on the tailgate. For his first shot, he walks to the side of his truck, rests the rifle on the top of the left bedrail...
